Apple is preparing artificial intelligence specifically for China. Reuters reports that the company is training its own model with technical support from Alibaba while continuing to assess Baidu technology.

China requires public generative services to be registered and comply with local rules on data and content. US tools cannot simply arrive in the same configuration used elsewhere.

The result is a territorial product: two similar iPhones may offer different models, filters, features and processing depending on where they are activated.

For designers and developers, that fragmentation complicates testing, language, privacy and product promises. A global feature may arrive later, behave differently or never appear in a particular market.

The fact is that Apple has trained a China-specific model with Alibaba's help, according to Reuters. The editorial reading is that AI is becoming a regulatory architecture that changes from one territory to another.

The question

Can Apple still offer one experience if its AI changes by country?

Less and less. Hardware and visual language may stay consistent, but capability, data and models will depend on local regulation and partners. Future coherence will require explaining those differences rather than pretending they do not exist.
