Apple is preparing artificial-intelligence capabilities specifically for China. Reuters reports that the company is training its own model with technical support from Alibaba while continuing to assess Baidu technology.
Generative services require approval and local partners, while several Western tools cannot be deployed exactly as they are in the US or Europe. The same device may therefore offer different models, data, filters and cloud infrastructure depending on where it is used.
For designers and developers, this fragmentation complicates tests, interfaces and product promises. A globally announced feature may need a different experience and timetable—or may not exist at all—in a major market.
Can Apple still offer one experience if its AI changes by country?
Less and less. Hardware and visual language can remain consistent, but capability will depend on local regulation, partners, data and computing. Future coherence will need to be explained as a system of versions.
