Wim Wenders has directed From Inside Out – The Architecture of Peter Zumthor, a 114-minute documentary shot in 3D.
The film premieres in September at the Venice Film Festival. It moves through works, models and conversations to present architecture from within and through atmosphere.
3D does not guarantee a spatial experience, but it can restore distance and depth where conventional cinema flattens routes and material.
Zumthor works precisely with qualities that are difficult to summarise in one image: weight, sound, smell, transition, shadow and temperature. The collaboration with Wenders makes representation part of the argument.
